Looking for an intensive outpatient program (IOP) that’s the perfect fit for your lifestyle and recovery needs? If you’ve done any kind of research, you’ll see that not all IOPs are created equal. So, which one is the right choice for you? We’ve looked at two outpatient programs in the DFW area: Turning Point and Mesa Springs. Here’s what we found out.

How Turning Point Recovery Network’s IOP Service Measures Up

Turning Point Recovery Network offers addiction treatment in Fort Worth and Dallas, and they also have a virtual (online) IOP program. They offer detox programs as well as alcohol rehab, drug rehab, partial hospitalization programs, and, of course, intensive outpatient programs.

All doctors and nurses at Turning Point are credentialed with licenses, training, and certifications in their appropriate fields. The administrative staff is kind, caring and treats their clients with respect. This facility provides customized treatment plans to help clients heal, recover, and achieve lasting sobriety. To illustrate these statements, this is one among many reviews for Turning Point’s commitment to excellence:

“I cannot recommend the IOP services at Turning Point Recovery enough! The staff here is truly second to none—caring, supportive, and always ready to help you on your journey to recovery. Their dedication and compassion make all the difference during what can be a challenging time.” ~Steven Banichar. Google Reviews

Turning Point’s IOP program and supportive recovery plans also receive high marks in our research and client reviews. They offer personalized plans that are thoughtfully crafted to meet each individual’s needs. For instance, they’ve designed their IOP to be flexible and can adjust to just about any schedule. This allows clients to work, meet their responsibilities at home, or continue their daily routines while still receiving the evidence-based treatment and therapy they need to reclaim their lives, which is reflected in this client review:

“The Intensive Outpatient Program at Turning Point is exceptional. The staff is incredibly supportive and professional, providing a safe and welcoming environment. The program is well-structured, offering a good balance of individual therapy, group sessions, and holistic approaches like mindfulness and stress management.

What I appreciated most was the flexibility of the schedule, which allows people to continue their daily responsibilities while receiving treatment. The facility is clean, comfortable, and conducive to healing. Overall, I highly recommend Turning Point to anyone in need of compassionate and effective outpatient care.” ~Maureen Hagan. How Mesa Springs Measures Up in IOP Care

Mesa Springs is located in Fort Worth, Texas, and offers detox programs as well as inpatient and outpatient care. As with Turning Point, Mesa Springs offers various rehabilitation programs, including IOP, and it claims to provide clients with personalized treatment plans.

However, the Mesa Springs does not always meet IOP care standards, and its approach tends to lean toward the more restrictive measures, with intake procedures and treatment plans appearing less flexible and inadequately administered. To illustrate this point, here is one among many reviews citing the lack of personalized care or attention to a Mesa Springs client:

“We had an appointment for my daughter, but yet were in the office from 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM. We wanted to utilize the outpatient services, but were told by the intake coordinator that they are not offered unless we go through inpatient services first. I was also told they had other medical services (PT), which they didn’t. Also, I was told I could pull her out whenever I liked, which is also not true.” ~Dawn Welch. Google Reviews

Like Turning Point, Mesa Springs does accept most major insurance plans. However, it seems the facility is fixated on payment for services rather than on fairly reciprocating with equal compassion and qualified care. These online reviews of Mesa Springs (among several others) demonstrate this tendency:

“You will NOT get any kind of therapeutic help here. This is a cash cow, and if the average medical patient ever understood the little to no actual help or enough practitioners to deliver the help, places like this would be closed down.” ~Steve M. Google Reviews

“This place is a bait and switch. Know the law before going in here because they will hold you as long as they legally can. DO NOT GO HERE. They just want your insurance money.” ~Jenna Taylor. Google Reviews

Final Assessment: Turning Point Recovery Outranks Mesa Springs

Considering the reviews and research gathered, Turning Point Recovery Network is the best option for compassionate, high-quality IOP care. While Mesa Springs may have some redeeming qualities, it is difficult to overlook its institutionalized, financially focused approach to mental health care.

If you are considering entering rehab and looking for an authentic, intensive outpatient program administered by clinical professionals who genuinely care about your recovery and long-term wellness, Turning Point Recovery Network is the clear choice.
