Peggy believes a common misunderstanding is the belief that mental and physical health are separate. “Many people do not realize that emotional stress can show up in the body—through fatigue, pain, or digestive issues—and that physical conditions can deeply affect mood and mental clarity,” she explains.

In her practice, she addresses this by integrating Traditional Chinese Medicine principles with evidence-based therapies, using simple metaphors, somatic tools, and culturally informed education to help clients recognize the mind-body connection. “My goal is to empower individuals to approach their health holistically, fostering greater self-awareness, resilience, and long-term well-being,” Peggy says.

From Personal Struggle to a Calling for Healing

Peggy’s path into the healthcare industry was deeply personal. Growing up in a young traditional Asian family with four children, she experienced firsthand the impact of stress and limited resources on family dynamics. “Due to the pressure of raising a large family with limited resources, emotional support was scarce, and there were moments of neglect and physical punishment,” Peggy recounts.

As a child, she often felt confused, anxious, and overwhelmed, also struggling with physical health challenges like asthma and panic attacks. “These early life experiences left a lasting impact on me and sparked a deep curiosity about human behavior, emotional healing, and the mind-body connection,” she explains. This curiosity evolved into a calling to understand “why people act the way they do” and “how emotional wounds can manifest physically.” Through her own healing journey, Peggy discovered the power of holistic approaches that integrate both Eastern and Western practices.

Building Bridges: Mastering Eastern and Western Healing Arts

“My goal has always been to support others in healing from the inside out—physically, emotionally, and spiritually—because I know firsthand how transformative that journey can be,” Peggy states.

Fuelled by this calling, Peggy pursued extensive education across different healing traditions. She became a Registered Clinical Counsellor, gaining proficiency in evidence-based Western therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Concurrently, she immersed herself in the study of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), achieving registration as an Acupuncturist.

This dual qualification provides her with a rare ability to view health from multiple, complementary perspectives. Additionally, Peggy sought more tools for deep healing and became one of the few certified Neuro Emotional Technique (NET) practitioners in British Columbia, adding another dimension to her integrated skillset.

To bring her integrated vision to life, Peggy established PH7 Mind and Body Wellness Inc. As the Director, Peggy provides holistic mental and physical wellness support primarily through remote video or phone sessions. Her services extend across Canada and internationally to clients in Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, and Singapore. She offers psychological support along with practical, accessible physical care strategies drawn from TCM, including food therapy and acupressure techniques. Additionally, Peggy contributes her expertise by participating in board and committee meetings with the College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC.

She also utilizes expressive play therapy when appropriate and incorporates the powerful Neuro Emotional Technique (NET).

Her background in Traditional Chinese Medicine profoundly enriches this approach, providing a unique lens on health. “TCM views emotional and physical health as interconnected,” she explains, referencing concepts like grief impacting the lungs or stress affecting the liver, enabling a holistic assessment unavailable through a purely Western perspective.

These Western and specialized methods work synergistically with integrated TCM tools such as meridian theory, acupressure, breathwork, and food therapy. This allows Peggy to offer strategies that work on multiple levels; for example, using acupressure points to support emotional regulation alongside DBT skills, or recommending food therapy to address physical imbalances linked to stress discussed during CBT.

“My guiding principle is flexibility,” Peggy emphasizes, “meeting clients where they are, and choosing approaches that align with their goals, values, and readiness.” This client-centered flexibility allows her to create truly personalized healing plans that address the unique emotional, physical, and cultural needs of each individual.

Peggy’s decision to incorporate Neuro Emotional Technique (NET) into her practice reflects her commitment to addressing the mind-body connection at its core. “I was drawn to Neuro Emotional Technique (NET) because it aligns with my holistic approach,” she shares. This technique offers a way to identify and help release unresolved emotional patterns that can manifest physically or create emotional blocks, often reducing the need for extensive verbal processing.

Peggy finds NET particularly valuable for clients dealing with chronic stress, trauma, or physical symptoms linked to emotional pain. She notes that it integrates seamlessly with her other methods, providing clients with a gentle yet effective pathway toward emotional clarity and enhanced mind-body resilience.

Extending Influence: Teaching and Specialized Training

Peggy extends her expertise beyond clinical practice through teaching. As an instructor at PCU Holistic Medicine College, she teaches patient counseling and communication skills to future healthcare professionals. Her teaching emphasizes core principles: “empathy, cultural sensitivity, and whole-person awareness.”

She guides students to consider emotional, physical, and cultural factors holistically, integrating principles from both Western psychology and TCM. Key skills she focuses on include “active listening, compassionate communication, and setting clear yet respectful boundaries.” Her objective is to equip future practitioners to “build trust, navigate difficult conversations with confidence, and support patients through collaborative, integrative care rooted in respect and human connection.”

Recently, Peggy pursued Occupational Awareness Training for Therapists focusing on First Responder Trauma. Her motivation was “to better understand the unique challenges faced by those constantly exposed to crisis and high-stress environments,” acknowledging the “invisible emotional burdens” and barriers to seeking help common in this population.

She intends to apply this specialized knowledge by offering trauma-informed, culturally sensitive care that integrates her full toolkit – mental health strategies, somatic techniques, and TCM-based tools. Her goal is specific: “to help first responders manage cumulative stress, regulate their nervous systems, and strengthen resilience for both personal well-being and professional longevity.”
