“When the mind is calm, the possibilities are endless.” This idea drives Dr. Supriya Rao, the Founder and CEO of DigiHeal Solutions and Services Limited, as well as the Founder and Chairman of Connect 2 Overseas. With over two decades of experience in counseling and guiding students, Dr. Rao has seamlessly blended her passion for wellness, education, and innovation into her mission to transform lives.

In just two years, Dr. Rao has turned DigiHeal into a pioneer in making health and technology work together to solve today’s challenges. The company’s core belief is that healing should be accessible, personalized, and innovative. Using a mix of sound healing therapy, breathwork, and modern digital tools, Dr. Rao changes how individuals and organizations approach their mental and physical health.

As the driving force behind Connect 2 Overseas, a Bangalore-based overseas education consultancy, Dr. Rao has specialized in higher education, offering free guidance and end-to-end support to students aiming to study abroad.

Her leadership style comes from her experience in different sectors. She values teamwork, creativity, and clear communication. Besides her work achievements, she mentors young people at an NGO that helps underprivileged children. She supports them in pursuing their dreams and turning them into reality.

But what motivates her to run two companies in different time zones while championing women in health tech? How does she use technology to create effective wellness solutions? What can future leaders learn from her experience?

This is the story of Dr. Supriya Rao—a healer, strategist, and visionary—changing how we care for ourselves and others in a fast-paced, tech-driven world while empowering students to realize their potential on a global stage.

The Journey to DigiHeal

Dr. Supriya Rao’s journey showcases the power of passion and adaptability. A commerce graduate with a professional degree in cost accounting, Dr. Rao initially began her career as a cost accountant. However, her natural talent for interacting with people, combined with her skills in operations and marketing inspired her to make a change.

“Numbers drove me, but connecting with people charged me,” she reflects. This realization led her to transition into operations management roles at an Australian company and eventually into UK higher education. Over more than two decades, Dr. Rao held key managerial roles at top-ranked universities in both the UK and Australia, where she developed her expertise in strategy, operations, and leadership.

In 2022, her journey took another transformative turn. With a growing interest in wellness and technology, she founded DigiHeal Solutions and Services Limited, which embodies her vision of merging health and technology to create meaningful change. “I just chose to follow what was in store for me in this new career path,” recalls Dr. Rao.

DigiHeal’s Core Offerings: Healing beyond Boundaries

DigiHeal Solutions and Services Limited, registered in the UK, began operations in July 2023. The company operates through three distinct verticals: Health, IT, and Marketing. DigiHeal primarily focuses on mental health and well-being by utilizing yoga and various therapies.

One of their standout programs, “Heal with DigiHeal,” offers corporate wellness initiatives tailored to meet the specific needs of organizations and individuals. The team works to understand corporate requirements and customizes the sessions accordingly. Additionally, DigiHeal provides sound healing therapy, breathwork, yoga, aroma therapy, and art therapy. They also conduct retreats designed to help participants unwind, relax, recharge, rejuvenate, and connect with themselves.

Furthermore, the company is developing a tech platform to educate users about various health aspects, indicating a promising future for digital health solutions. “Health and Technology in today’s world go hand in hand and we at DigiHeal help people to connect and heal using online platforms,” says Dr. Rao.

Navigating Challenges with Grace

Entrepreneurship is not for the faint-hearted, and Dr. Rao is well-acquainted with challenges. Managing two companies in different time zones—DigiHeal in the UK and her India-based company, Connect Overseas—requires careful time management, strategic planning, and a composed mindset.

“Challenges have been plenty,” she admits. “But they only make me stronger and more determined to make my dream a reality.”

For Dr. Rao, the key to overcoming these obstacles lies in collaboration, networking, and continuous learning. As a Reiki master, she also highlights the importance of meditation and living in the present moment to maintain focus and resilience.

Women Empowerment in Health Tech

As a woman leading a health tech company, Dr. Rao is deeply committed to empowering women in technology and healthcare. DigiHeal is still a young company; most of DigiHeal’s key team members are women, and Supriya is dedicated to creating opportunities for them to excel and innovate.

“Women are known to multitask and handle any situation with calmness,” she states. “This mindset is invaluable in the evolving health tech industry.”

Her involvement with the British Business Group (BBG) South India, further amplifies her impact. BBG is an excellent platform for companies in India with connections to the UK, allowing them to network and build their businesses.

As the only woman on the core committee, Dr. Rao leverages this platform to connect with industry leaders, members of the High Commission, founders, and other achievers. She learns from them, implements valuable practices in her own life, shares insights, and inspires other women to break barriers in business and technology.

“BBG has many women achievers across various fields, which gives me an excellent opportunity to interact with them and enhance my knowledge,” Supriya proudly says.

Expanding the Vision: Empowering Students through Connect 2 Overseas

Dr. Supriya Rao’s entrepreneurial spirit extends beyond health tech into edtech with Connect 2 Overseas, a consultancy in Bangalore that helps students study abroad. This business shows her dedication to helping people achieve their dreams, just like her work in health tech.

Connect Overseas partners with over 850 universities worldwide. They offer free guidance and complete support for students who want to study abroad. The team assesses each student’s profile and provides tailored solutions to ensure a smooth journey.

“Our goal is to make the study-abroad process easier, so every student feels supported at every step,” says Dr. Rao. This mission connects to her aim of helping individuals reach their full potential, whether in health or education.

Dr. Rao manages to work in both health tech and education because she adapts well and has experience leading diverse teams. “You dream, we make it happen,” summarizes the spirit of Connect Overseas, similar to DigiHeal’s promise to heal with technology.

The Healer’s Leadership

Dr. Rao’s role as an entrepreneur, educator, and healer shapes her leadership style. Her background in education and counseling fuels her passion for mentoring others, while her experience in strategy and operations helps her lead clearly and purposefully.

“I am a people person and have always been in roles where I have led large teams. I have worked on strategies, operations, marketing, and branding, traveled across destinations, and achieved numbers,” Dr. Rao says.

When she decided to become an entrepreneur, her family supported her because they knew she had solid business plans and strategies for both of her companies.  Dr. Rao has also been a healer for five years. She explains that healing and meditation help her stay grounded, handle challenges calmly, and create effective strategies that grow her businesses.

“Being positive and being present always works,” she affirms.

Scaling in a Dynamic Environment

Scaling a health tech company in today’s fast-paced world requires both innovation and adaptability. For Dr. Rao, collaboration and networking are essential strategies. She is continually seeking opportunities to learn and grow, both personally and professionally.

“Winning the Global Women Entrepreneur Award 2024 has energized me to keep pushing boundaries,” she explains. “But there’s still so much more to achieve.”

Dr. Rao also acknowledges that managing her personal life has been challenging, as running a business in a foreign country can be difficult alone. “However, when you have the support of your family, you are never truly alone,” she says. She admits that there are times when she feels low on energy, but her dream of making it big keeps her motivated.

“I have miles to go before I sleep…”

The Legacy of a Dreamer

When asked about the legacy she hopes to leave for future generations of women in health tech and entrepreneurship, Dr. Rao states, “The word ‘legacy’ is a huge responsibility, but I want women in health tech, education, or any job to believe in themselves and never give up.”

She adds, “Challenges, people trying to pull you down, days of low energy, and moments of doubt will be part of this journey. However, when you have a strong goal in sight, NEVER GIVE UP.”
